We believe that punctuality and good attendance are essential for all pupils, to ensure they can benefit fully from their education to reach their full potential, both academically and socially.
We aim to ensure that all pupils achieve maximum possible attendance and that any barriers to this are identified and acted upon as soon as possible. The school aims at 100% attendance for pupils and promotes good punctuality, as this sets a positive work ethic now, and for the future. However we understand that children do occasionally become poorly and so set 96% as our target for all pupils. Children are rewarded for good attendance in different ways. The class with the best attendance get a visit from the rabbits for a day a week in their class and the class with the best punctuality gets a visit from the guinea pigs! Half termly we offer rewards and incentives as well as rewards for improved punctuality and attendance. In the Summer term we hold an attendance and punctuality award ceremony where children receive certificates and medals.
We believe that every day counts and work alongside families to address issues surrounding attendance. We do not authorise holidays during term time and recommend families seek support if they have issues with getting their children into school on time; for example by running a walking bus. We ask parents to bring their children in through the main office if they are late and ask them to sign their children in. We follow stringent procedures for lateness and absence and work together with families to address issues.
