What does your child learn at school each day? Find information about our curriculum subjects here.
Although the curriculum objectives are the same across the nation, at George Tomlinson, we have a key ethos for how we want children to learn. First and foremost, we try to ensure that all children are engaged, and that they enjoy their lessons. We want them to learn by doing, practicing and discovering for themselves. Teachers use questioning and assessment for learning regularly to identify any gaps in understanding and address this regularly and quickly, so that children always know what they need to do to improve. We are also aware that all children are different, and ensure that lessons are pitched to their differing needs, such that all children can make excellent progress in every lesson.
At George Tomlinson, we use Inspire Maths (a Mastery, Singapore approach which deepens understanding), Destination Reader, and Project Based Learning. We also have engaging and inspiring English lessons from the CLPE (The Centre for Literacy in Primary Education), and an Oracy curriculum to develop children’s speaking and listening skills. Please also have a look at our curriculum pages for more information on specific curriculum areas.
